This book had some useful info but not worth the price. Only a small portion of the schools listed actually have information posted so the charts that the book uses are literally all empty, saying "no info" as you see in my picture. Kind of a waste of space. The only real use this has is as almost of all Psychology grad schools. If you want specific info on the schools...save your money and look on their individual websites.

This is only in regards to the 2018 edition, but it would appear that the APA is no longer including internship data! Why did they decide to withhold one of the most important pieces of data??? I was livid when I noticed this... The last two editions included it, I have to assume ones before it did as well. Was this an oversight, or are they no longer including that info? Either way, it's just wrong!

This book is helpful because it offers all of the information needed about graduate programs in one place. While the information is all available on the individual program sites, this saves me from the tedious process of seeking it out.Still, there are three problems that I have with this book:1) It doesn't offer the most updated list of APA accredited programs. It indicates this information within the information for each school, but not in a concise list. This list is available online, but it would have been helpful to have it in the book.2) The admission statistics provided are from the 2014 cycle, not the 2015 application cycle. Most of the school website offer the most up to date admission statistics, which means I had to go to each site individual to find the most accurate information.3) This book is missing at least one program, maybe more. The APA website lists Catholic University of America as having an APA accredited Clinical Psychology program but I can't find it at all. I don't know about other schools.

This edition is the second I've bought, hoping maybe it was a fluke and I got a poorly edited version the first time. I was disappointed; they're all very badly put together. At first glance it seems like it could be helpful, especially if you're searching for a non-clinical degree, but (in typical psychology style) the classifications used for different programs are arbitrary. Worse, though, schools that I know to exist are mis-listed under the wrong discipline or degree type, or not listed at all. Types of degrees and degrees in certain subdisciplines that no longer exist or possibly never existed abound. There is little information in any of these guides, and much of it that is present is faulty or very outdated when compared to easily obtained information provided by the schools themselves.

This is a must have for anyone considering getting a graduate degree in any field of psychology. I was at one time considering a PhD in clinical psychology. I've changed direction now, but I still don't regret buying the book. At the time, it was VERY helpful in identifying those schools that I would be interested in, and also which ones I would most likely be able to get in. Each school (even in Canada) with some sort of psychology degree is listed. You can read about which degrees are offered, if they're accredited or not (very important!), what the average GPA and GRE scores are of previous accepted applicants, the financial aid given, etc. I definitely referenced this book many times in the process. It's very helpful. I'd suggest anyone considering a grad psych degree, no matter what kind, to get this book!

I just got the book in the mail today and I can see that it has very good information to use when deciding which schools one should apply to. I like having an idea of what the acceptance rates, student profile, etc. are for different programs and I like this book because you have access to the information without being creepy and emailing the PH.D students in your department of choice (which I have done).Couple of down sides though:One: This book doesn't have very much information about Master's programs. I'm not really sure whether it's because fewer universities are offering Master's degrees of Psychology in their department or whether the APA operates under the almost universal idea that every psychology grad school applicant wants a Ph.D. Some programs I'm interested in DO have Master's but yet there is no information about them in the book.Two: If you want a degree that is a little atypical, you might not find information specific to that degree. I'm interested in Consumer Psychology and this book has no information about it for the schools I looked at. I even looked at NYU- A school that most DEFINITELY had a Consumer Psychology program- and couldn't find any information.I may or may not keep this book. If I keep it, I'll use the information to get a snapshot of what my chances of acceptance are for certain programs I'm interested. The information included is very well rounded and informative- I just wish there was more for the people who haven't decided between the Master's and Ph.D.

This is literally the best $15 I spent in 2016. I had recently hired an Adwords consultant for $500 a month to run the Adwords for my small bookkeeping business. To my horror, one month into the process I discovered that one of the ads they had written used the word "booking" instead of "bookkeeping". This is an ad I had spent hundreds of dollars on.Needless to say, my confidence was dashed. So I started trying to educate myself on Adwords. I took courses on Lynda, read blogs, took classes on Udemy, you name it. Nothing gave me the kind of practical, comprehensive, step-by-step breakdown of the platform that I needed to confidently manage the platform on my own.Until now. Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. I finished the book in two days, and it is HEAVILY annotated. I immediately found mistakes that my previous consultant had made in my Adwords account. Today I ran my first ads on my own, with no outside input. I feel confident about them.Don't waste time with other books and outside Adwords consultant. Buy this one, manage your account on your own.I'll update this review once my campaigns have been running a few months to see if this confidence remains down the road.

This book offers a fairly well organized, clearly written set of advice on what Google AdWords is, why it matters, and how to use it effectively. If you're completely overwhelmed by the idea of using AdWords, then this book might be for you. As someone who has worked through Google's (short, completely free) "Adwords Fundamentals" course, I didn't find it especially helpful. To be sure, though, I did pick up a few points of practical advice that might have justified the cost of the book. However...There is a lot of fluff. Almost completely blank pages. Stories about nephews. Pep talks. I would have preferred a slimmer, more to-the-point book that didn't insult my intelligence by masquerading as more than it actually is, which is a somewhat bloated "get rich, you can do it!" book by an author who never drops his sales act.

There are mixed feelings about Perry Marshall and some of his stuff. I bought this book as a total beginner, followed every step laid out, and now am running a successful campaign for Adwords. I'm already getting a 15% CTR. Even the Google people were impressed with how I set it up, and couldn't believe it was my first campaign.I've only been running my ads for a couple of weeks, and I'm A/B testing as Perry lays out, so I will be excited to see how my funnel converts.

This and Perry’s 80/20 Sales & Marketing are core books for any entrepreneurs marketing library.

If you want to attract traffic and clicks to your website via Google searches, this is THE bible to have in your toolbox! Don't pass up the free bonuses that come with this gem!! There is more information in this book that goes beyond just Google Ads. Knowledge of making your entire business a long-term success is inside!

This book has provided me with a wealth of knowledge on the subject of Adwords, I have struggled with Adwords in the past and wasted thousands of dollars on unprofitable campaigns but after reading this book I think my future Adwords campaigns will be much more effective and better optimized, the book also touches on other topics including writing effective sales copy, email marketing, and more, 5 stars.

To me Adwords is just like a big stock market, but instead of Stocks you buy Keywords. Everything I knew about Marketing previous to getting involved in SEM, was based on last semester of school. I took a Marketing class as a requirement for my Business Minor andthought it was silly and not really applicable to the real world. After four years of building software in a software development group I have moved over to the dark side. Yes, instead of worrying about user experience, and how well the site is working I now worry about cramming advertising on web pages, so I needed some background on marketing again.It can't be stated enough that Search Engine Marketing is not the same as Brand Advertising. This was the 2nd book I have read on the topic. The book will teach you Direct marketers set one goal from their ads: to compel a measurable response from their prospects. What better way to measure response than AdWords as it keeps track of everything expecially when tied to Google Analytics.I loved the example they gave in chapter 13 about the Wright Brothers. It is often the sidebars that made this book interesting. This book was packed with information without reading like a textbook, so the little stories I could tolerate. However,I never did understand the "Uncle Claude Sez segments", I could have done without those. Also, like many others I never did find the $85 Google Success toolkit. Overall this helped me run my Adwords campaign better. Also Perry's website is great if you get a chance to check it out. The Split testing tool is fantastic.

I read an excerpt or an interview about Finding Your Element somewhere and somehow I got hooked into the idea that this book contained some revolutionary wisdom on discovering your true calling in life. For me, this wasn't the case. The book is stuffed with a great many tired platitudes, and its "revolutionary insight" basically boils down to the obvious idea of "do what you love."I'm not saying this is bad advice, or that the commonsense wisdom, spoken through the silver-tongued mouth of Sir Ken Robinson, won't inspire some to get off their butts and take action. But the majority of the book contains disappointingly obvious cliches backed up by real-life accounts of people who have followed this obvious advice, and, unsurprisingly, had positive results. *It worked for Sally-Jo... It can work for you, too!*For me, the book never digs deep enough into the gritty, challenging areas of helping people transition to a meaningful career. Rarely if ever, for example, does the text address the fact that we live in a techno-industrial civilization that is specifically designed to prevent most people from fulfilling their individual creative potential, and to enslave us in a monolithic, hierarchical corporate economy. "You always have choices," Sir Ken boasts confidently. Well, in today's world of neoliberal domination, choices are becoming narrower and narrower for the vast majority of the population.The book feels somewhat out of touch with the struggles of everyday people. It's very genial throughout, and the tone is avuncular, as if a rich old uncle is talking to his young rich nephew about whether or not he should be a horse jockey or continue in the family silver business. It's not easy to find my element when I can barely stay afloat in the economy, and it's a tragedy that Finding Your Element is such a luxury in contemporary society, where there's more than enough wealth for everyone to share, were it more equally distributed.I'm fighting desperately to find my element, but sometimes I feel it's a losing battle because of the intense pressure the system puts on my back to conform and become a wage slave so I can survive.Criticisms aside, if you're looking for a basic book to give you a few ideas about how to expand your world, you could do worse. Some bits of wisdom that genuinely resonated:• Finding your element is about discovering what lies within you and, in doing so, transforming what lies before you.• Being in your element gives you energy. Not being in it takes it from you.• Many of the opportunities you have in your life are generated by the energy you create around you.• The search for your element is a two-way journey: an inward journey to explore what lies within you and an outward journey to explore opportunities in the world around you.• Do all you can to explore new avenues of possibilities in yourself and in the world around you.• You may be better than you think at what you love. You may underestimate your talent because you set unreasonably high standards for yourself. Having high standards is good, provided you're not immobilized by self-criticism.• Connecting with people who share your Element can have tremendous benefits for you and them.• The most common regret: Not having the courage to live a life true to yourself.

Ken Robinson wrote this book as a follow-up to his other book The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything by Ken Robinson, Lou Aronica (Reprint Edition) [Paperback(2009)]. He takes a 360 view of your life and walks you through it all. You do a series of exercises where you ask yourself deep questions. You find your element when you find the intersection between your passions and aptitudes.He has three major principles:Principle #1: Your Life is Unique.We're all different.We're all a mix of nature and nurture.Principle #2: You create your own life.Carl Jung: "I am not what has happened to me, I am what I choose to become."Principle #3: Life is OrganicWe all change. We don't have a linear path. He incorporates a lot of examples of successful people who had a completely nonlinear path to success.Vivek Wadhwa, famous for his work on immigrants working in the technology field in the United States, realized that "there is no link between what you study in college and how successful or otherwise you are later in your life."Ken Robinson talks about a lot of the existing literature and methods for finding out what your passion is and he's fairly critical of them. He talks about what's called the Forer Effect, also known as the Barnum Effect. You mold your personality to conform with what people tell you your personality incorporates. Robinson is in favor of using personality types to describe yourself, but he says not to let the personality definitions (MBTI for example) limit you.He also takes a lot of time to talk about happiness and positive psychology. He differentiates between your physical and spiritual well-being. When I was in the Andes and taking an anthropology class, I learned that the indigenous culture believes in two types of life force. One is the breath of life and the other I would call the force of spirit, just like Scott Russell Sanders' The Force of Spirit. He talks about Gretchen Rubin The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun.His definition of happiness comes from Sonja Lyubomirsky: Happiness is the experience of joy, contentment, and well-being combined with a sense that life is good and worthwhile. I felt like that was a really comprehensive yet concise summary and I think that the happiness section was the best part of this book.Robinson goes on to talk about the 5 different kinds of well-being: career, social, financial, physical, and community. He asks you what sorts of hurdles or responsibilities you have and what sorts of risks that you can take. He asks you who you want to be, but in a much more specific way.He also talks about Bonnie Ware The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing, because a lot of his action steps at the end of the book have to do with mitigating risks. I found it interesting that a lot of the suggestions that he had were in line with things that Barry Schwartz said at the end of The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less.I've seen Robinson's TED talk and expected more of the book to be about the education system and creativity. While he does talk about them, he encourages the reader to engage in a lot of introspection through a variety of exercises; each chapter ends with a few questions about you and your life. My favorite exercises had to do with vision boards. I used Pinterest to create them and I really loved having a concrete, pictorial representation of more abstract concepts, such as the activities that I do in daily life.Robinson also says that it's all an iterative process and we grow organically (Principle #3), so nobody should expect his or her desires at one point to be the same as at another point in his or her life. I know that it's valuable for me to read this as a recent college graduate and that I'll read it again, further down the line.
