My son, a fourteen year old Phillie Phanatic and knowledgeable baseball follower, loves this book.162-0 imagines a season of zero losses by recapping games from the storied history of the Philadelphia Phillies. The book is short, but an enjoyable read that will give a good overview of famous teams, games and significant players who wore the red pinstripes. Although the Phils possess the unfortunate record of being the first professional sports team anywhere to record 10,000 losses (mostly due to the fact they are one of the oldest sports franchises, dating back to 1883), there are a lot of gems and highlights for a team that has played close to 20,000 games.The book is organized by month with a final chapter of postseason play. Each game summary is generally a page to a page and a half. The final sentences of each summary tie the game into the larger season or exceptional year of one of the players so the game is placed in context for the reader. Boxes of interesting factoids are placed throughout the book.It is a quick read and the type of book that can be picked up and read in short sessions. All in all, this is will be enjoyable for a Phillies fan and will serve to tie today's followers to the storied past of one of America's noteworthy baseball clubs.

Mr. Nosey is horrifying! I instantly returned this book once I was able to read the entire thing. I cannot believe people think this story is okay. I’m pro original Hans Christian Anderson tales, gore and all, but this story is terrible. Cutting off someone’s nose because you think they’re annoying? What lesson is this supposed to teach? That it’s okay to be violent towards people that annoy you?

The Little Miss: Pocket Library was a bit disappointing. Each book is about 5 pages. They are not stories; more like bios of each character. Not what I was looking for.To be fair, the books are good quality (very small board books). I just wished there was more to them.

This book (Mr Dizzy) is missing pages (deliberately). The writing has been merged and pictures removed. It seems this kind of thing is also concealed by the fact that reviews are not of individual products. Note, this is not a review of the story, but I don't think that matters as the reviews are all merged anyway.

My Son just loves this book! He lost his first one, so this was a replacement. The whole book collection is worth while, I consider the humor just a little more to an adult level, not in a R rated version. Parent's will get a kick out of this book also.

I should have read the details better. These are tiny board books with very little writing. Was trying to get a Miss set to go with my daughters Men. She is 6 and like them, but it's not much ready for her. These are baby books.

Mr. Greedy LOVES food! What he eats for breakfast would feed our whole family and more. No sooner has he finished breakfast then he starts thinking about lunch! Out on a walk, he comes across the giant's house and the delicious meal waiting on the table - sausages the size of pillows, peas the size of cabbages etc! The giant has him sussed and decides to teach him a lesson. (Reminds me of Bruce Bogtrotter with the chocolate cake in Matilda.) Is there maybe a better way to teach your child not to eat as much? Yes! BUT the lesson here is that Mr. Greedy did indeed learn his lesson, kept his promise not to be greedy ever again thereby gaining control over his original lack of self-control and ended up looking much better for it.A great book for all ages!

Mr. Grumble is as you can guess by his name, GRUMPY! When his alarm clock goes off in the morning he says, "Bah! It's the start of yet another horrible day!"Hmm... how to cure him? Well, a wizard comes along who doesn't "like people who are constantly grumbling and moaning." What does he do? He turns Mr. Grumble into a little pig! As you read on through the story, you will read how each time Mr. Grumble grumbles he becomes a larger and larger pig? Does this cure him? You'll have to read to find out!

I loved these books when I was three and now my three year old loves them too. I'm so glad they are still in print and easy to find. Something about these simple colorful illustrations and fantastical stories really captures the attention of children ages 3-5. Added the little miss collection to my daughters Christmas list :)

This is really the first complete work of Ancient Greek I've ever read. (Well, as complete as 1 book of the Histories can be.) I really like it. It's front and back matter are pretty minimal, but that's fine. Steadman provides red meat. On the left-hand page, there is a scanned image of the Oxford Greek text. The quality is usually pretty decent, though on occasion flaws from the printed edition appear. No worries as they are small. On the right-hand page is a glossary of lower frequency words (those that appear fewer than 15 times) and a bit of commentary. Less advanced students will appreciate Steadman's generous help to get them reading more fluently. There are some typos here and there, but they are completely manageable given that this volume is POD and well-priced.I can only hope that Steadman continues with making these books. This is exactly what is needed for Greek studies.

Having finished your basic Classical Greek grammar books, where should you turn to build your vocabulary and see those grammatical idioms in action? I have various BCP, Cambridge, Reading Greek and Loeb editions of assorted texts, but this really beats them hands down. It's such a pleasure to have the vocabulary just a glance away and the grammatical comments are most helpful. There are other features I really liked too. A separate vocabulary list of the words occuring more than 15 times with the number of times each appears also noted, current books for additional reading, downloadable flashcards and a pdf file available of the entire book. What a wonderful idea and how generous! Instead of covering your text in pencil or biro you can scribble on pages printed from your home PC.The idea of "print-on-demand" books like this is new to me, but it seems to be working very well for everybody. It's explained in the preface. It means that a very nicely produced book is available for well below the price you would expect to pay for such a book. The down side is that there is apparently no independent editor, but the author is far more hands on and has more control over his product than traditional book publishing methods. Updates and corrections are available if needed. Although "printed-on-demand" the book arrived promptly. You'll need to order it from Amazon since you won't find it in bookshops at this time at any rate.Buy this book! I bet you'll buy the rest of the series too, as I did.

Steadman's layout & notes are great, and I along with many would welcome a volume for book two. The occasional errors in the glossary & notes have no doubt been found and fixed by now. Highly recommended!

I used this text for my third semester of Greek and found it very helpful. If you're more advanced the sheer quantity of notes might seem obtrusive to you -- though it's a bit more work than simply Loebing it, the book does a lot of the heavy lifting for you. Herodotus isn't too tough, which makes him a good prose author to start with... as opposed to the other big Greek historian Thucydides, who had me tearing out my hair.

I am so excited! The book just arrived. I have looked it over and it is offering all the information I needed to return to reading Herodotus in Greek.All my frustrations have been answered! Thank you so much for notifying me about this book.

This is the best approach I have seen yet. Geoffrey provides the intermediate Greek student with all of the resources that he or she could possibly need to successfully tackle this work. I love the approach and the presentation of vocabulary. This would be an outstanding resource to allow 2nd-year Greek students to successfully get into Herodotus as early as possible. I highly recommend this work, both for private reading, and as a text to use in the classroom.

I used this text for a 3/5th semester Greek class. For the students reading their first text after using Shelmerdine's Beginning Greek, this was a great start. The more experienced students caught a fair number of mistakes. Those mistakes did distract, but overall the text was useful enough that I'm going to order his Odyssey 9-12 for next semester.

This is a wonderful book as it provides all the help you need to read the original greek. It is like having your own personal tutor at your side. I wish that every Greek text could be issued like this. Many congratulations and thanks to the author.It is also a beautiful book to handle. Just what I wanted and needed!

This book is a delight in every way. It is lavishly produced, and beautifully written. Its thoughtful, artful photography chronicles Hokule’a’s world-wide journey with one or more stunning images on nearly every page. It clearly articulates the most critical challenges of our time, and carries a message of authentic hope.The size, feel, weight, and even the magical endpapers all add to the luscious presentation of this important, timely and captivating book.The writer, Jennifer Allen, tells this modern day Odyssey with a masterful blend of scientific detail and pure poetry. She weaves interviews with the spirited crew members, the ancient wisdom and legends of Polynesia with stories from the ports that Hokule’a visits. I love this book. Words and images weave to tell the story of an amazing journey. My husband and I were recently visiting the Big Island, and the canoe was docked at our hotel in Hilo. School children would arrive each morning with offerings and song for the crew members gathered. It was wonderful to witness. Once home, I ordered this book to learn more. So glad I did. In what can be a crazy world, this warmed my heart and soul.

Shares the best of the Hawaiian Nation's ideals. A book to be read slowly and thoughtfully. A "coffee-table book" that has real substance within its covers.
