Very helpful, I find myself referencing this book a lot and using it often. Makes a great addition to my text books. It is smaller and easier to manage than a huge 100000000 page clinical book.

The book is an easy read and clearly states all the information you need to know regarding the different standards. This was required for a nursing ethics class, and I find it was very helpful.

This book was a requirement for my CSN classes. It is helpful in listing the various standards & objectives that are expected of a school nurse. It’s a text book, so I can’t say it’s the most exciting reading I’ve read, but if provided the information I needed for my practicum. It did arrive in excellent shape.

Great book. But never felt the need to use it for the class because of most material is available online now. Buy it if your instructor is giving you assignments from this book. I will be returning it.

The wording and format is confusing. Its kind of formatted in non complete sentences so I thought it was confusing. I bought it because it was required for my Capstone class.

Easy to read book, but I think most of this information can be found for free on the internet through your state board of nursing. Good reference material for my shelf though

It uses very clear explanation and instructions to help my student and keep her from having to ask me a billion-ty questions every day. It walked her through the basics, and then we could focus more on the design and concept of her project. I've kept the book and use it EVERY time that I pop open my InDesign and start on a project.

Robin Williams' books are wonderful for demythologizing the software for various disciplines. In desktop publishing, InDesign is the principal tool, though you are called on to be a jack of all trades. Her other books on PhotoShop and Illustrator get you where you need to be - just enough knowledge to perform decently in various functions.

I should know, I have many InDesign tutorial books, but this is the one I use regularly to check for tips, tutorials, keyboard shortcuts, etc. It had me up and running in less than an hour.

This is a great- first and brush-up text for folks starting and getting back into thoughtful design.I love how the author stressing knowing as well as doing. Creating is thinking - some folks do get lucky by winging it, but most of us know it comes from learning, doing and doing and doing....The only thing I'd like to see added are more exercises to put the concepts to use.Text reads well and flows logically. Humor and insight included!

This is a really good book for people who aren't familiar with the InDesign program or who are learning it. Written in language that is easy to understand and focuses on basic, needed information. I recommend it for your library.

Every book of Robin's that I've ever purchased has been worth double, triple, nay a gazillion times the price! And once again, she's done it again. Within minutes of first opening it, I discovered the answer to a problem that's always vexed me (and could never find the answer to elsewhere) -- right then and there the book paid for itself. Just wish I'd realized the Non-Designer's InDesign Book was around long before, as I'd've saved a lot of hair pulling. Spend the money on this great guide!

I'm somewhat puzzled by reviews that criticize this book for being too basic, unhelpful, nothing new, etc. The title says it all. As someone who has studied interior design in many formats, I think this is probably better than something you would find in an online lower level college class. So what's wrong with that? That's what the title says it is.I just love how the author breaks so many concepts down to something understandable. Really, so many designers talk "over" their readers' heads or leave important information out. One would be better prepared for any course above basic by reading and understanding the concepts, which are also illustrated. Illustrating a concept is no small task! In a profession which is in a large part, visual, it's difficult to find material with so many straightforward illustrations that, well....illustrate the concept! The photographs are stunning (jeweled colors in some, which I'm a sucker for).This book doesn't promise to help you create anything in particular, it just explains the basics of design, which are necessary to come up with any and all designs. The creativity part is up to you. I think a lot of the design concepts here could be applied to just about anything, not just interior design. I love this book and you will find me today with it in front of me as I read it, absorb it, and get a new take on the design concepts I learned in school.

I purchased this book to use as a review and refresher. It served my purpose and made me realize how much information I had shelved, forgotten and needed.Nothing replaces the college program but if you think this is what you truly want to do in life or you are interested in doing your home..this will serve your purpose.It gives the essentials you will need and use .. forever.

Great for the basic with fun little projects/assignments to complete. I did this for fun and it really expanded my knowledge!

As said in other reviews, this book is focused on interior design as a profession from a general point of view and not on interior design itself. As an engineer interested in learning about interior design i did not really found what i was looking for, as most of its content was already known. However it is a very good book for people starting from cero, with detaied explanations of basic concepts. The book has a very good design, full of pictures and is easy to follow.

For 10-year-old very bright Granddaughter who has expressed interest in Interior decoration/design as possible career choice. She loves item.

I needed something to help me review some basics of Interior design. The book has great pictures, easy to read and very informative for only being about 135 pages. Great companion to other design books I have.

Not a very good text book or coffee table book. Lacks organization

I like jazz. I'm not an officianado, but sometimes I like to know what I'm listening to as well as just listening, and Bill Messenger is a jazz messenger. Just as one might turn and tell someone, 'listen to this piece of music,' you will do the same to large portions, if not whole lessons of Messenger's takes. He's so knowledgeable, and is so facile with his material I thought he was a 'cat' even before he revealed his own particular era. He underpins each of the stages of jazz first with simple musical figures he plays live, and then, perhaps, some of the recognizable variations on that figure, and then gives you, not a 'hit' example but one that employs all of what you just heard. His lesson on BeBop is a thing of beauty. You realize how much you recognize of what you've heard. Bill Messenger has done a glorious service to the general appreciation of jazz: I'm a teacher, and this guy is good! He's real good!

The lecturer is good, knowledgeable, not very riveting. The music on some of the lecture tapes sounds like a battery running down (on my bose stereo) but then again this was a bargain and not new.

Be careful when you order. I had seen this as a CD and thought it would be great for the car. I bought from an Amazon seller for only a few $$ but did not notice it was a cassette tape. Sending it back would cost more than I paid. I have yet to round up a cassette player to listen to it. Just check the format before you order

The ABC’s of Jazz ImprovisationI really enjoyed this class as I have always liked Ragtime and Dixieland Bands and as I grew I, loved going to a place in Portland, Oregon called Jazz de Opus where they would have a trio playing or just some classic records that the owner had. Alas, it is no longer in existence so I have to listen at home. Disneyland introduced me to the Dixieland music because they always had a great band playing at one of their restaurants near Frontierland.Professor Bill Messenger is a musician who opened for Bill Haley and the Comets, played with Cass Elliott and many other musicians over the years before becoming a professor for The Peabody Institute.Each class is forty-five minutes in length. Prof. Messenger always includes many musical examples, played by him or guests or sometimes pre-recorded. The class is lively and easy for a non-musical person to follow along.Every class flows by so fast that I began looking for examples of music he talked about so I could continue my education. The only Jazz variant I wasn’t wild about was fusion, which from some of the examples he played seemed just like a lot of noise. No beat, no rhythm and no blues.I highly recommend this class for anyone that wants to learn more about Jazz and the different versions it has undergone. The Professor makes his class fun and begging for more.

This course is a wonderful and entertaining history of jazz. The content is good, Messenger is clear and unpretentiuos, and the integration of music into the lectures is both vital and fun.The only negative is that the course deserves to be longer, and that would have allowed more coverage of contemporary jazz, especially fusion.Nevertheless, highly recommended for fans of music, especially jazz.

Not only did I learn a lot, but it was terribly entertaining with many interesting musical samples. I have listened to it over and over again. Before I heard this, I knew I sort of liked old jazz. Now, I love it and seek out performances.

I really appreciate and enjoy this superb course by Bill Messenger on Jazz. Many musical examples. This course is very well researched and well written. Fun easy and educational course on jazz America's Music,! I recommend this course without qualifications.
