This book is mainly for wills not trusts. The problem with most of these books on trusts is that they are not clear on exactly how to administer one if you're the Trustee. They say vague things like, "Send the trust documents to the bank with your ID." Or they say beneficiaries can vote to remove a Trustee. How is this done exactly? These books are too vague on the actual mechanics of how all this works.And no, you don't send the entire huge binder of all the pages of a trust to every bank or financial institution. When you're the Trustee, you use the Trust Certificate (a two-page document) but NONE of the books I've read including this one, points this out.It's like Trusts are shrouded in mystery. No one seems to have any idea how they work.

As an executor who is also a trustee for a testamentary trust, I found this book to be very helpful in its explanations of how trusts work from beginning to end. Even though I consult with an attorney and a CPA, this book helps to fill in the blanks and to alert me to situations I need to follow up on. It also helps me in handling day to day trust administration rather than paying an administrator to do that. While there are many books that deal with Living Trusts, very few that I could find deal with a trust being established out of a will.

I would not recommend this - it does not cover the potential situations in enough detail.I purchased "The Trustee's Legal Companion", from Nolo Press, at the same time, and that is much better.

I wanted to be fair in my review. It was well written - but even so, was way over my head. I did pick up a few tips to help me as I was navigating an Estate for which I was the Executor, but unless you already have a good handle on this - hire an attorney. (No, I am not an attorney)

This book is amazing and a super easy read. Good not only to read cover to cover but to quickly look up valuable information. Estates and trusts are incredibly complicated this book breaks it down simply and keeps your interest. I should know for a C.P.A. Dealing mostly in trusts and estates.

Chaotic organization. Would be better if estate and trust information were separated and explained, rather than mixed. I bought this to help me understand estate planning and the book jumped back and forth from estate planning to trusts.The subject itself is confusing enough, but jumping between the two subjects tends to make it more confusing rather than easier to understand. This book did not do much to help me. It does not live up to it's title in my opinion.

I ordered this book because we were going through a tough time. Having the whole process opened up and explained cleared up the confusion. I like the book so much because it goes through everything from the professionals you will need to hire to the tax issues. I would recommend this to anyone who has to deal with a will. I admit the trust portion of the book did not apply to us but I am sure it would be an equal five star help for anyone doing that as well. It is nice to have a book to make a hard time a lot easier.

I am in the midst of settling an estate as a trustee.Thankfully, we have a living trust as well as a irrevocable trust. However, I wanted a good reference book to do a quick read and make sure that I don't miss anything in terms of settling the estate properly. The estate is quite simple and this book helped me tremendously as I make the distributions to the very few beneficiaries.A good book for a good understanding of "how to" and a good refresher on all the benefits/pitfalls of trusts wills, etc.

Enjoyable, magical, adventure story but I wished there was more about the family that Tess discovered when she opened the magical gate. I hope she writes a sequel. The characters were fun and endearing. Please write more.

My granddaughter loved the book.

Lots and lots of middle grade magic books out there. Lots of family dramas, especially involving missing, ill or absent parents, as well. But this is one of the best books I've read that blends the two into a story that is both magical in the old-fashioned "wonder" sense and yet topical as well.On the magic side, we aren't talking wands or spells or anything involving a "magic system". We are talking about wonder, and dreamy boundaries that divide the real from the imagined, and wishes, and mists that obscure and illuminate. We're talking about did-that-happen? and I'm-sure-this-is-where-it-was. Gates and walls and hedges and rabbit holes and magical carousels all play a part. What you end up with is, (MILD SPOILER), Brigadoon meets Nesbit's "Magic City" and "Enchanted Castle", meets the original Mary Poppins, as written. (Mary Poppins, in the books, is a powerful and unpredictable elemental earth force, not a sweet nanny.)This is classic stuff, handled beautifully. Rather than belabor her points, Ms. Ephron uses suggestion and brief bits of dialogue, and passing observations to just sketch in what's happening. We switch from mundane scenes, (breakfast, driving to town, gardening), to scenes of great imaginative power, (finding the gate, escaping the carousel, playing magical miniature golf in the mist). Characters are always reading into what's in other characters' eyes, and half of the action is suggested rather than described. Sprinkled among these rather pastoral bits of wonder, though, are action scenes, (flight, escape, imprisonment), of great suspense and energy. Again, very hard to pull off, but I encountered no bumps or out of tune scenes.On the realism side, our two heroes worry about and are separated from their parents. Adults are kind and supportive, but there is an undercurrent of real helplessness and isolation. Our heroes are siblings, and their small conflicts and grand loyalties are on full display. I've rarely seen, or believed, expressions of affection and love among siblings in middle grade books, but this tale manages the difficult and old-fashioned task of showing the family ties that bind with great aplomb. And the small and large acts of heroism that each child displays feel authentic.As a bonus, there are some very funny scenes and some truly witty dialogue.So, this is a book with a fine story, a marvelous feel as a written work, and a fast pace that never drags out a point or overworks a scene. Both dreamy and sharp, it is a warm, magical and realistic find worth considering. (Please note that I found this book while browsing in our local library. With its short chapters and easy to read narrative, young readers will fly through the storyline, all while being carried away by its imaginative adventure.Amy Ephron, quickly guides readers into a world of wishes and imagination, in her first middle grade title. While this story is filled with many creative elements, I was still left with an overwhelming desire for a little more adventure. Between the hidden world behind the castle surrounded in mist, the mysterious boy William, his governess and the groundskeeper, there is so much more of a story that has yet to unfold. While exploring, Tess comes across an old rusted gate and finds a key in the dirt that fits it perfectly. Inside, she finds the perfectly manicured gardens of a grand castle and a boy her age that invites her in to play. But he has a warning; beware the hawthorns. The next time she goes to visit, she takes her little brother and together, the trio begin a friendship that can only be found 'once in a blue moon'.The Castle in the Mist is a mysterious story of a summer friendship between three young children. The mystery being how anyone can live in the castle that has surely been empty for decades. And wouldn't Aunt Evie have known if she had a young boy as a neighbor? And why does William insist that she always have the key with her so she can come back to play?I really love the preface of this story. A hidden castle that can only be accessed with a special key. A dire warning about... trees? Yeah, that sounds like something I'd definitely want to read. It even had a bit of a 'The Secret Garden' vibe to it at first.But.I didn't love it. I was expecting more. The whole story is wrapped in this mystery but we don't get much of anything substantial until the end and then it was just a little confusing. We spend more time on the castle grounds than in the castle. There are little bits of what I suppose are magic but are more likely just bits of Tess's imagination. I honestly just wish it was a little longer and had more exploring or backstory of the castle itself.But I think I am being too critical because I am not the intending audience for this book. I think young readers would really enjoy the story and not look for all of the answers and accept it for what it is; something fantastically mysterious that happened to two young children.I received a free copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is one of the most inspirational books I’ve read in a long time! The author, MaryAnne Connor does more than go out on a limb, she takes a full plunge into the unknown when she offers to help at a church that serves the homeless during on of British Columbia’s most violent winters. What she finds out shakes her to her core. She is a successful real estate magnate is on the verge of propelling her career to new heights by speaking at the American Home Builders Association in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is what she has worked so hard for. This presentation will launch her into the stratosphere and maker her a household name in the industry. But something is tugging at her heart and soul. What is it? It is the calling many of pray to hear. “Give me your heart, your soul and I will show you what you have seeking for.” What you may ask is calling you? It would be God. She does something she’s never done before and doesn’t step out of her comfort zone, she embraces the calling and leaves everything that is familiar and comfortable. Sound familiar? It should if you’ve read the New Testament. Is this not what Jesus’ disciples did? They didn’t aske questions, they left their jobs and followed him on faith. Like them, MaryAnne had hundred of moment where she questioned what she was doing and why she was doing this. Imagine what your friends would say about you if you left a lucrative job and started a new career without worrying about financial security. What would say about them? Those are the questions aren’t they? I couldn’t help but remember what I read in one of Robert Schuller’s books about faith. When he and his wife decided to start their own church at an abandon drive-in in California, he never worried about money even on the day they were launching their first televised sermon. He knew the money would come, he just didn’t know where it would come from. MaryAnne details many of the miracles when money was short or the account was empty. She kept praying and keeping the faith for God would handle it but only if she turned everything over to her and she did! How many of us are brave enough to take that step? Her ministry, Nightshift has become, in fourteen years, what many churches and religions profess to do, but never follow through. She is feeding, clothing and tending to the sick and poor. She is making a huge difference in her community of Surrey, BC. It is the most comprehensive ministry I’ve ever heard of. Hers is a full service and all-encompassing ministry. She isn’t only feeding the poor, she is helping them obtain counseling, drug treatment, rehab, half-way house, job skill training and job placement. She is doing what government services in Canada and the United States claim to do but fail dramatically! Why? Because her ministry focuses on the one word that Jesus constantly preached: LOVE! You won’t find that in the any government office will you? They are more worried about the proper forms being filled out instead of helping those who need it. Both countries should take a good hard look at what she has accomplished without a massive bank account and then revamp their systems. Many will say it’s impossible. I pose the question, why?Five Stars Plus!

I shed a lot of Tears through the reading of this book because I was so on at God's provision and timing always so perfect. I love this memoir and the courage and determination of the offer to help those so much less fortunate; the hope, and encouragement the least of these received through her Ministry change their lives. What a blessing her Ministry is! There were some minor flaws in the writing, but so well-written that I could hardly put it down.

This book seemed disorganized, was very hard to stay connected. Still I felt led to keep going. Thank you for your work of recording these experiences. I always wanted to do a big and special thing, an BY the time I recognized I needed to look to God to find that thing He seemed to tell me my job was to be the best mom and wife I could be. He did let me teach children and some women. He did let other children and relatives children in for quiet a few years Still it was all mom work. I have always felt it was not enough until today as I finish your book. I am grateful for Him giving me no more than I could handle. I only wish I had done it better. The marriage failed, children are believers,but I wish stronger ones, as I wish to have been stronger.Thank you for your courage and determination.Brenda

I read what the book was about before I chose to buy it, but I didn't expect what I read. I enjoyed the book right from beginning to end. It captured every emotion in this book. Yes we know it's a true story but for all she went through it was not easy no where along the way. Some parts were so heart breaking that you just want to give up and throw in the towel, but she never did. She just fully trusted God to see her through everything she came upon. This is a must read for those who struggle with believing that God is God and He is everything that you'll ever need. Excellent book. Well down Ms Connor well done.

You’re life will always be empty if you’re not living by your purpose. Love the story of leaving everything She had to follow the fulfillment of the spirit. What a courageous woman!! Following God is not always easy but it’s full with accomplishing.

A great reminder of Our Lord's faithfulness when we trust and obey. Reminds me of His faithfulness and steadfast love on my journey to get my AA degree in nursing (not as big as your journey ) but nevertheless He never left me . Thanks for putting this on paper. God bless you for seeing the homeless as HUMANS!

I gave this book 5 stars because it was a clean true story. Free from violence. It placed emphasis on caring & love from the heart.

An amazing life; those who enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will comprehend and relate to it. Highly recommend. Even if you don't agree, reading her story may inspire you to look differently at the homeless and less fortunate in our society.
