My thirteen-year-old daughter was having some bad attitude problems. She was very ungrateful, and most the things that came out of her mouth were angry. So when I finally had enough I decided to come up with a different kind of punishment. I would teach her different habits and force her if needed to remember all the reason she has to be grateful. When I came across this book I was thrilled. A Christian book on her level with inspiring stories. It was exactly what I needed. She read some of these stories alone, but every night we read a few together. Most of the stories are very short, I think some of the longest were about 7 pages, but usually they were two or three. We laughed, we cried, we bonded, we learned lots of things and saw things for many different points of view. Very great uplifting book about how God can turn anything around. And how you can always turn to him no matter how dark things look. I recommend this book to everyone!!!!

If you are a guy that was in a marriage where you were emotionally and/or verbally abused by your wife, do not buy this book! It felt toxic to me. I was looking for something that promoted healing, forgiveness, and not placing blame on one person or the other but this book does not do that. Ninety percent of the stories are written from the wives perspective (granted they may have been married to Gaston from Beauty and the Beast) but most left me feeling worse for the wear. Even some of the stories from the husbands perspective had a strong tinge of "but it was my fault- I was a jerk." In our current social framework this book fits right in to the narrative that "men are the problem." If are a great guy and was married to Cruella de Vil, this is not the book to help you heal.

If you are down, or have health issues, family problems, or any other situation of that nature, this book will lift and inspire you. While it won't eradicate all troubles, it demonstrates how individuals through prayer and divine intervention saw the light and had a profound effect in their lives.While some of the "Chicken Soup" books I didn't care for; this one is exceptional. It is a must read for a dose of good old fashioned faith!.

I found this book to be very comforting as I went through my grief of losing my husband unexpectedly . Reading the stories of other people who have lost loved ones and have found a new life and hope encouraged me that my life would go on and that I could obtain happiness in spite of my grief.

The order was fine. The book was in excellent condition. But it is a terrible book. The stories are superficial and shallow. The problems were so incredibly trivial and full of self pity i could hardly stand it. For example, “I broke my leg and it ruined my vacation”. I was hoping for something with more substance.

Gave it as a gift to a dear friend who loss a loved one. She loved the book and read it every night was great to give to her when she was going through a loss of a loved one and for anyone who loves reading about messages from heaven anytime!

Another great Chicken Soup book. I saw a lot of Zen thinking in this book. It showed me, once again, that acceptance of a situation, concentration on the present moment, and enjoyment of the good, positive aspects of all circumstances helps us to rise above difficulties. Some of the authors have illnesses or disabilities which would depress many people. Would you see the positive side of Alzheimer's Disease? Could you still be happy if you had macular degeneration and were slowly going blind? Could you have Asperger Syndrome and still want to travel the world knowing that you were directionally-challenged? I don't think I've ever made it through a Chicken Soup book without crying. And this book was no exception. It was so moving. I am a person who tries to look for the silver lining, but I often fall short, and this book has helped me to look for the beauty in all circumstances.

I always say that you can't go wrong with Chicken Soup. I don't think I will ever give one of these books less than four stars. This is another one that is so filled with wisdom and inspiration that I was looking forward each day to reading more stories. Many people had to climb the ladder of success in order to achieve happiness. They had to get more education and training. Others had to downsize. They already had degrees and high-powered careers, but they weren't happy. Sometimes that six-letter word, stress, was slowly killing them. One became a full-time stay-at-home mom and found that PB and jelly with her kids beat luncheons with executives. One went from management to administrative work as an executive secretary and was so much happier. Many people came to realize that managing with less money wasn't a hardship if they had less stress and more peace in their lives.Others had handicaps or illnesses that they needed to accept. One blind woman made such a beautiful life for herself that a cure for her blindness wasn't the end-all and be-all of her existence anymore. As usual, I was truly moved and astounded by so many of these stories. Others were pleasant stories, but they didn't have the power to really move me to a great degree. This is a matter of personal taste I'm sure. But I had to take a star off because of the stories that didn't have the punch that I've learned to expect--the stories that move me to tears or really amaze me with their wisdom and beauty.It's a wonderful book for the bedside--sure to relax you and give you hope. By the way, I know that some people can be turned off by stories about people who leave perfectly good jobs to find a more peaceful existence. People can't always leave their jobs, but I seem to remember that there were some good ideas here for making the most of leisure time or achieving some balance in life. One story is even about the joy of having a box of chocolates all to yourself--loved that one!

Good read and some good advice for 50+ or if you want to get a jump on the aging process 40+

If you're getting along in years and think that it's ordained that you will decline, lose vitality, and become frail - READ THIS BOOK!! I did, at my cardiologist's suggestion. Changed my life - and my wife's. We're early 60s and getting strong and fit. We're exercising, hiking, doing regular stretching - and loving it. Feel better than we have in a very long time. Everything is easier. Energy is increased. Mental function is better. Fitness is critical as we age. Fitness is freedom. Fitness is dignity. Fitness is fun. We expect to be strong and active at least into our 80s. Unless we get hit by a truck.

This book changed my life. I read it about 5 years ago. I was a 52 year old overweight couch potato who had been inactive most of my life. Needless to say, I had never been athletic either. In my fifties I believed the popular misconception that you get older and your body falls apart. Turns out that's a symptom, not a cause. Long story short--I'm able to run a half marathon now and before I read the book I had never even run around the block. I lost 40 pounds, too! Younger Next Year is my fitness Bible. Eye opening and life changing!

I was the person that continually gained and lost the same 10 to 15 pounds over my entire adult life. That is until at age 50, I started lifting heavy weights. Within weeks, I was literally shrinking. I only lost around 10-12#'s but dropped 3 pants sizes. doing nothing but lifting weights. Since then I've done no cardio other than summertime cycling. I eat healthy and feel great and I thought I was "good-to-go". Until I read what this book has to say about the need for BOTH weights AND cardio to maintain health as we grow older. The chapters rotate between physician and patient perspective. It's totally changed my thought process regarding the importance of cardio. Extremely informative and very entertaining writing. I highly recommend you read and follow the advice in this book.

How could I begin to actually DO the ideas in Chris and Henry's inspiring book, Younger Next Year? Being new to the world of exercise and fitness myself, and wanting a program that would integrate the latest understandings of fitness this book if PERFECT. And when you go to do these exercises... before you know them all, download the two consolidated cheat sheets they offer at the Workman site: Warm ups and 25 sacred exercises are available at no cost at Workman.com. I reduced them to 66% on the copier so I don't have so many pages. Much easier than trying to hold the whole book open and carry it around with me.

I'm a huge fan of Younger Next Year. I've been doing the basic program for six years and it has really changed me for the better. Be warned that this book is mainly repackaged leftovers. If you have read the original, most of the first part will be review. The main message of the exercise program is good, but the "sacred 25" are apparently covered in Thinner Next Year (which I have not read). I also think the exercises seem to be a bit overwhelming. I doubt you could do the "warm ups" in less than 30 minutes, and the whole point of YNY is 45 minutes to 60 minutes of exercise six days a week. The book recommends to mix and match the exercises, and has a few suggested programs. Overall, however, I expected more guidance and a more manageable program. It almost seems like the purpose of the book is to lead to the purchase of the exercise DVD. Not a big deal because the book is cheap. So, overall, good effort. But, I would really have preferred an updated new edition of YNY that includes TNY and a more structured chapter on the exercises. Also, more involvement by Harry. Harry is featured a little here, but it seems largely repackaged.

GREAT BOOK! I loved the original book better though. He got softer when he was speaking directly to women. But honestly I prefer his humor and straight talk. I recommend this book very often. It's a great resource for the latest research on longevity and how to avoid all the modern diseases of inflammation crippling the unhealthy lifestyle of the western world. And it's written with humor and in a way that even the most non health say person could understand. Highly motivating! And bottom line message - You and You alone are RESPONSIBLE for having health or non-health based on the choices you make in everyday life.No Doctor, drug, surgery/procedure can save you from your own choices. Why not choose health and health for a long life. Its about what you put in your mouth, how often you move your body, building health relationships and being connected to something more real that ones' ego. Wonderful book!!!

Yes, I agree with everything the book says. But... it's a simple concept (exercise vigorously, daily, forever) and it is repetitive and gets to be a bit annoying. Also, half of the book is a motivational speech, and the other half is a medical explanation of the body. If you want to skip the book, just exercise HARD and get your heart rate up, six days a week, for an hour a day, for the rest of your life. But if you need a little motivation to do so, then by all means, read this book. It will motivate you.

Good book with many great points of interest. Leave it out and you can gain inspiration to jump up and exercise. Most of us don't get faster or more lithe as we age, so this book manages to give me impetus. I am not old, but I am 67 with two hip replacements and a weird left knee issue. You just have to keep moving! Some of the folks in the book are way out of my league and they have lots of time for all of these classes, etc. If you happen to work every day and/or can't afford all the special classes and therapies they chat about, don't feel guilty - just feel inspired to keep doing what you can do and enjoy.

The beginning of the cookbook explains what a Keto diet is all about, it's benefits, and exactly what it entails. I've never tried the Keto diet and bought this mainly for easy, low-carb recipes for my crockpot and it's exactly that. The recipes are simple but look so yummy. It's easy to read and straight to the point, perfect for choosing low-carb options! I just got into Keto but I am already bored of my typical recipes so this was a breath of fresh air!

Like the Keto diet, these provide some quick and easy meals. The description of the diet highlights and the goal of the cookbook was good. Given the price, I did not expect a lot of color pages but it would have been nice to have some key pages with images of the top recipes.

This book is the most powerful tool for losing weight I've ever seen. The book contains of informative part, which talks about keto diet at all, and also it contains of myriad of different recipes of delicious healthy food. Using tips from the book you will be able to lose weight without any serious difficulties. All information is clear and coherent, so the book is understandable even for beginners. I am grateful to the author. Recommended.

it goes into detail about cooking techniques, favorite ad ons, standardized cooking times and even recipe conversions..I highly recommended this book to everyone!!! This is a complete cooking guidebook. Make recipes easily and also quickly. I really like the variety in this cookbook. The recipes are grouped by type which is very helpful. Well i like it!..

Great easy read with "real" recipes that working people would do. I absolutely love love love the beginning where it lays out what food are Keto friendly. A great book to have for Keto diet made easy. Very informative with delicious recipes. These recipes use easy to find ingredients and are quick to make in my instant pot.
